TRIPTYCH - stage 1


finally beginning the triptych I had planned to paint for the past 2 years! Using a series of photos taken at a friend's 21st birthday party by photographer Steve Gong -- amazing series that has such great rhythm I knew it would make an interesting 3 part narrative!

stage 1 = establishing background rhythm (details begin to emerge in stage 2). If my pieces were songs, each "backdrop" would be the baseline = entirely essential for the flow of the work, but not always audible (or, in this case, visible). this faint layer may be covered up later -- but its movement will dictate the placement of the strokes & patterns to come.
